VENEERS
Veneers or porcelain facets are restorations that cover the entire front face of the tooth, generally used in the anterior sector, whose purpose is almost always aesthetic. The great development of porcelain veneers is due to two important advances:
the possibility of engraving the internal face of the veneer with an acid and the possibility of using resin cements that adhere to the tooth through the engraved enamel. With the union of both factors the veneers undergo a great impulse that places them at present as the treatment of choice in situations of compromised aesthetics.
Advantage:
They allow to improve the aesthetic aspect of our patients in a remarkable way, since they are able to modify the shape, position and color of the teeth even in difficult cases.
-
It is the most conservative method (the one that carves less amount of tooth) to modify the aesthetics in anterior teeth.
-
The resistance to abrasion, wear and fracture is much higher than in composite resin restorations (white fillings).
-
They are resistant to the attack of oral fluids and alcohol.
-
They are very biocompatible.
-
They maintain the color and the brightness.
-
An excellent adjustment is obtained outside the tooth.
-
They are homogeneous, so they do not retain plaque or stain.
-
Its union with enamel is very strong.
-
They present a perfectly polished surface that hinders the deposit of bacterial plaque, which favors periodontal health.
